    Honda Africa Twin Pics

My Africa Twin turned 7 in June. I bought it new in 2017, and the ODO now stands on 36000 km. Then: Now: It has been a fantasic machine to explore the winding roads and forests in the area. I have no plans to "upgrade" to the latest and greatest. As the saying goes: "Love is that feeling...

    Adventure helmets......just an image thing?

I bought it only for the matching colour scheme of course... 😍 On a serious note, here is an interesting perspective on the culture and mentality inside the Arai factory!

    Africa Twin Service

Mine is a 2017 manual, at 36k km... but not for sale! 😄 Nothing much goes wrong in my experience. Routine stuff, like I had to replace fork seals and replaced notchy steering head bearings a few years ago. Front brake pads are next on the list, and I suspect a new chain and sprockets are due...

Securing your GPS from falling out of mount.

Tethers/lanyards/toutjies from the device around the frame or handlebar. The Montana and Inreach have tie-down points, no need for glue in my case. I've never had them fall out of the mounts, but this is cheap insurance.

    How many of You commute?

I used to commute daily for 12+ years between Roodepoort/Bryanston and Centurion/Bryanston. Mostly to save time in traffic. Nowadays I commute between the bedroom and study by foot, or take the train into the city for office days. It is much cheaper, safer, more comfortable and stress-free on...

Where has your bike taken you today?

I rode day 1 with a local group who went on a 4 day ride. Most guys were on 400-650 class singles, and the AT was by far the porkiest. It was hard work to get through the thick rutted clay bog holes and steep rocky climbs, but I somehow came through unscathed. Near the origin of the Yarra...

Where has your bike taken you today?

Solo ride on a beautiful spring afternoon. Found a new road through one of the nearby forests. Slight mishap with a trail-side tube change just before dusk, far from home...

    The BMW X-Challenge Thread

Yes I had a similar experience. Engine cranked easily, but would not fire up. I somehow suspected the battery because it was still the OEM and was a few years old. The new battery solved it. My conclusion was the old battery had enough juice to pull the starter, but not enough to pull the...

    The BMW X-Challenge Thread

I had this on my XChallenge years ago. I replaced the battery and the problem disappeared.

Where has your bike taken you today?

Cool and rainy (at times) riding through the farmlands of West Gippsland, Victoria, Aus. 30 mins from home left on the horison.

Where has your bike taken you today?

I took a varsity buddy from ZA on a forest/plantation ride. First dirt ride on his "new" secondhand adventuratised Suzuki DR650. We ended the day at a small town pub for a beer and a burger https://maps.app.goo.gl/c6ZXonk6mEQu56Cj7?g_st=ic

Where has your bike taken you today?

High spot in the Yarra Ranges mountains, east of Melbourne. I was expecting to see some snow on the ground, but no luck. It was 4'C at 14h00 though... https://maps.app.goo.gl/kF8m3wxGA9MmXHQa6?g_st=ic
