Let's get some motorbike & injury stats

34 years riding. 4 wipeouts. All on my first bike (gpz550) 3 out of the 4 were my fault. (inexperience, riding to fast, pushing my luck). Scrapes and bruises fortunately. The 4th one probably had a little of me to blame too. I was filtering quite quickly on the N2. Taxi in the right lane decided...

What the others have said. Rectifier, fuel pump, choke nuts. Also check the main fuse mounted on the started solenoid - the connection is renowned for melting and self destructing. Check that the speedo works.......the worm drive gear on the wheel is renowned for wearing out if not looked after...

Cam Wear. Any examples in SA?

Not sure that it would be a solution if it's an oil feed problem.

Cam Wear. Any examples in SA?

Ah - sorry, that is what I meant. They run directly on the head with caps. So that would then point to oil feed problems then. (although it could be caused by the metal sworf shedding from the lobes, but not if the lobes are still ok.) Messy.......

Cam Wear. Any examples in SA?

Similar but not. I had a GPZ600R back in the day. Also renowned for cam lobe wear. Always the right-hand side. The cause was bike parked on sidestand - all the oil in the cam gallery pooled on the stand side. Added to this was a choke that revved the nuts off the motor on startup, and about a 20...

Condition of R354 Sutherland - Middelpos - Calvinia

If you fuel up in Sutherland, why dont you do Gannaga pass down to R355, and then onto Tankwa tented. If you don't have to go to Calvinia.......it's a long way extra that you have planned there. Are you planning to do that all in one day? That is quite a distance.

Condition of R354 Sutherland - Middelpos - Calvinia

The middlepos - calvinia road was fine when I was there about 2 - 3 weeks ago.

Condition of R354 Sutherland - Middelpos - Calvinia

Which route are you taking from Ceres to Sutherland? If you are planning on going through the Tankwa park to gannaga, beware, the road in the park is HAMMERED. Still stuffed from last year's flooding.
