Agreed! I did a solo trip it worked fantastic even when i rode like a proper arse ons some sections. The bike fell over at one of the camping spots while on the side stand because of sandy soil. It actually fell right on the holder and fuel tank but nothing moved or bent :ricky:
That concern i share and maybe that can be the biggest flaw. However in saying that i think it might work for someone who goes on a longish trip and wont spend all that money on a safari tank. Also using the rubber which is similar to that used on off road bikes limits any possible...
I tested it on a solo trip through the karoo did about 990km of which probably 80% was dirt roads. It held perfectly as the channel on the foot peg is 3mm mild steel and extremely strong. This is based on the Addis 10l plastic holder and you can fit one on each side. Cool 20l of extra fuel...
I saw a similar type of fuel carrier on another forum and decided to build my own one out of 2mm mild steel. I took of the rear foot peg of my bike and used the pin to hold it.
I would like to know if the wild dogs would buy something like this?
What type of material... Aluminium, Stainless...
