It’s very unlikely that would work as the 690 is not “conventional” as it has the tank serving as the subframe which supports the seat and everything else mounted aft of the main frame.

I’m sorry I can’t give you any specifics as I have no personal experience with that KTM motor, but wear like like that can only happen in the absence of sufficient lubrification. With some of the Hondas the culprit was a small oil restrictor bush/jet that tended to catch debris and starve the cam.

And there definitely has to be an oil feed/supply, problem/design flaw to the top end. Certain older Honda singles had this oil problem too. (I’m not going to elaborate because this is a KTM thread & there are very sensitive Honda lovers present! )

If it were me I wouldn’t go back to that shop unless they have an excellent mechanic and other sales people I could deal with. I always rather deal/work with the people who get their hands dirty rather than the “rock stars”
