I do the same, and quite often, but like you say I keep the bike tight against the vehicle i'm overtaking, plus the acceleration of the bike sees the move over in seconds.

D/S or adventure bike helmets are like tyres on a Range Rover. It needs to be able to cope with 250kph, and it needs to do some offroad too. It can never do everything truly outstandingly. Just like a D/S bike.

This is the big thing. The ventilation/air flow. You take your quiet, snug-fitting Arai or Shoei or Protector into the Tankwa mid-summer, and see how you feel. There is a reason MX riders wear a similar helmet to D/S ones.
