I understand to only charge a lithium with a normal charger as a smart charger pulses and does not work on lithium?

Yes, it depends how well it has been done. My SR was bought as a rebuilt bike with the clock turned to zero. I put 12k on it, then my brother a few and then his son took it to 79k and the motor still good! I am planning on sorting it again! Main issues are carb ( mate going to clean, new kit etc...
